How to choose the right promotional product

The best promotional product is not always the newest, most expensive or most unusual. It is the one that makes sense for the person receiving it and the result you want to create.

01

Begin with the goal

Decide what the product needs to accomplish before comparing items. A client thank-you, employee welcome kit, trade-show giveaway and sales incentive all call for different choices. A clear goal gives the project focus and keeps the product from becoming an isolated purchase.

02

Know who will receive it

Think about the recipient’s workday, lifestyle, location and preferences. A useful desk item may be ideal for an office team, while durable drinkware or outerwear may be more valuable for people who work outdoors. Relevance is what turns merchandise into something people keep.

03

Consider the moment

Where and how will the item be presented? Products distributed at an event need to be easy to carry. Executive gifts should feel considered from the packaging onward. Mailers must fit shipping limits. The delivery experience is part of the product strategy.

04

Protect the brand

Choose colors, decoration methods and imprint sizes that support your identity. A product can be impressive on its own and still be wrong for your brand. Request a proof, check contrast and make sure the logo remains readable at the final size.

05

Balance cost with value

The lowest unit price is not automatically the best value. Consider usefulness, expected lifespan, decoration quality and the number of impressions the item can create. Fewer thoughtful products often make a stronger impact than a larger quantity of forgettable ones.
